Feature and Follow #5

This week's question: What do you do with your books after you are done reading them?

Well, most of the time I read right before I go to sleep, so I put it reverently back on my giant pile of bedside books. If a book is particularly good, sometimes I'll just close it and stare at it while I try and gather my thoughts and overwhelming "ohmygoodness that was amazing" feelings :) And if I don't like the book I've just finished, I just let it thunk to the ground (terrible, I know!).

I have rarely felt the urge to hurl my books at a wall - the most recent time this happened was after I finished Storm of Swords, but I was reading an ebook and I definitely did not want my precious laptop to shatter into a thousand pieces.

  1. Hopping through. I think I've only thrown one book at the wall. A John Grisham book when I was 14. I haven't liked John Grisham since.

  2. Uh oh. the facts that Storm of Swords made you want to throw it worries me! I've seen all three seasons of the show but I am only on the first book. Makes me nervous!

  3. When I read A Storm of Swords, I had to stop reading it for a while! I didn't throw it, but it did cause me a lot of pain. It's my favorite book of the series, though!

  4. Jessica@a GREAT readJuly 26, 2013 at 2:59 PM

Oh yes, I know what you mean about wanting and yet not wanting to hurl books across the room! Although the only one I can recall wanting to do that to was one for school because it made no sense!! A guy in our class actually did that to his copy before the professor got there! So I got to live the moment by seeing him do it!

But for my books? Never! The times that the impulse came was more so that I wanted to smack a character or something! But I take precious care of my books!

All loved ones get a home on my shelf and the ones that don't make the cut get donated or gifted or prized out somewhere!

  5. Fantasy Is More FunJuly 26, 2013 at 4:16 PM

What a great blog name! I'm a bedtime reader too - and when I finish a really good book I do often sit there and just think about the book. Sometimes I feel really sad that its over.

  7. Yay, it's so nice to find a sci-fi and fantasy blog - my favourite genres! I can definitely understand why you felt that way about Storm of Swords - a certain 'moment' perhaps?

  8. More details in my review, but almost all of the characters I was rooting for were either dead or different enough from how they started that I didn't like them anymore.
I haven't seen the show, but everyone's raving. Would you recommend it?

  10. Weddings are simply *delightful*, aren't they? haha
Unfortunately, after the epilogue of this one, I decided to stop reading the series because most of my favorite characters were either dead or being annoying - which is such a shame, because I really liked how unpredictable and intense this series was.

Can you leave me a link to your blog so I can stop by? Thanks!

  11. Wow I've never actually had anyone hurl a book in front of me. I think I would visibly cringe :)

That's a good plan for books you don't like! That way hopefully it finds itself in more loving hands haha

  13. Don't you hate it when you want the satisfaction of hearing the book hit the wall only to be stymied by our electronic readers?! That happened to me too a couple weeks ago.

Thanks for stopping by my FF

  17. That sucks that the series isn't for you! Characters I liked have died but my favorites are still alive, so I'm lucky!

  19. Oh and yes!!! The show is amazing, I've seen every episode at least twice. The third season only takes you to the middle of book 3, and thats the reason I decided I needed to read the books. Too much craziness, so I need to know before hand. If I dont, I might have a heart attack watching the next episode.
