Feature and Follow #7

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! The Feature & Follow is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee's View.

This week's question: Back to school. Create a reading list for the imaginary English Lit class you’ll be teaching this semester.

I'm guessing this is a thinly veiled "what are your favorite classic books" question, so that's how I'm going to answer it.
  1. Crime and Punishment
  2. The Things They Carried
  3. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest
  4. Lord of the Flies
  5. Scarlet Letter
  6. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
  7. Frankenstein
  8. Animal Farm
  9. 1984
  10. The Little Prince

Nice list!! Seeing lots of classics today! I decided to go the modern route since the classics weren't necessarily my faves!

Aw, The Little Prince! I need to dig up my copy of that.

I really want to read Frankenstein and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. My education in classic books is sorely lacking, lol.

  5. Frankenstein is really interesting. It's like a story in a story in a story, and it really makes you wonder who the monster is!
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn was really inspiring. I hope you like them :)

  7. I taught Frankenstein last year. Teaching a book definitely gives you a whole different perspective on it. I like how you interpreted that question. :) I wish I could just pick my favorites to teach. Since I work with homeschooled kids I have more lenience than if I worked in a traditional school. Still. I have to follow certain guidelines.

  8. Argh. I never thought that I'd forget to include Little Prince in my list, Kritika. I'll enroll in your class just as long as I can choose to read the Little Prince during the whole duration of our class. xD

  9. I have read The Scarlet Letter and ok might have not enjoyed Frankenstein during my sophomore yr in high school, but I think now, in college I might appreciate it more.
