 This one is kind of hard because I was pretty good about reading all the books I wanted to. I'm going to include some 2013 releases I wanted to read in 2014, because otherwise I wouldn't have 10 books for my list!

    I read four of those. Really liked Mirror Empire and Fortunes Pawn, meh about Emperor's Blades, couldn't finish Child of a Hidden Sea.

    I haven't read any of these BUT The Mirror Empire, Clariel, Of Metal and Wishes and Emperor's Blades are all on the old TBR shelf ;) Also must read *some* Orson Scott Card. Lovely picks ^^ I hope you get to read ALL of these this year! xx

    I read Clariel, Child of a Hidden Sea, and Rose Under Fire. They were all pretty good, IMHO, though I think Rose was the best out of the group.

    Ooh, I want to read Fortunes Pawn, too. It sounds like a really good book. I don't believe I've ever heard of Child of a Hidden Sea, but that cover has caught my attention so I've got to go read about it. Hope they're all good books.

    Oh you DEFINITELY need to read Fortune's Pawn I absolutely LOVED that trilogy!n Clariel I thought was just ok and I really want to read CHILD OF A HIDDEN SEA as well. Good luck fitting them all in this year!

    I've heard lots of great things about Fortune's Pawn and Mirror Empire, so I'm most excited for those.
    Really? Child of a Hidden Sea sounds amazing! I guess I'll see what I think when I find a copy.

    I got Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead as gifts on my 13th birthday, and that got me into science fiction. I don't agree at all with his personal views, but his books are pretty amazing.

This week's theme: Top Ten Movie/TV show adaptations of books I've read Sometimes movies and TV shows do a great job of portraying the spirit of the books they're based on, and sometimes they really don't. Here are a few adaptations I loved and some that I felt were lacking. Great Adaptations 1. The Hunger Games/Catching Fire/Mockingjay       Stunning visuals, pitch-perfect portrayal of the characters, and just enough new changes to keep the movies fresh. 2. We've seen a little bit about the differences in what members of different genders are allowed and encouraged to do. I thought it was interesting how things like reading were entrusted only to women, since reading is how you gain knowledge (and power!), and it seems like the men were the ones who wanted all the power in this world. So here's a discussion post about the different gender roles and what some possible implications are. Way of Kings Readalong: Wrap-up

So it's finally over. That was an amazing book! Thank you everyone for joining in and making my first readalong so much fun :) I have said over and over again that Brandon Sanderson is a storytelling god. This book makes me believe it even more fiercely - it takes a mastermind to create such intricate worlds and piece together so many character and plot threads. He does such a great job of feeding you just enough answers/revelations to keep you happy, but keeps you hanging by dangling all sorts of questions for you to answer. Not to mention the bombshells he throws in at the end... Having read Mistborn, I really should have been more prepared for disaster and mindblowing moments towards the end of the book. The end was just bombshell after bombshell - some were interesting revelations, and others were shattering.
