Top Ten Tuesday 41: To be Reread

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's theme: Top Ten Books I Want To Reread

I already have a huge list of books to reread , so I'm going to limit this to books I want to reread on audio!

  1. The Mistborn trilogy: Ok, so I've already reread Final Empire, but I really want to finish listening to the next two books because the audio is FANTASTIC.
  2. The Name of the Wind : I wasn't too fond of this book when I first read it, so I want to give it another shot. Also, Nick Podehl is an AMAZING narrator, and I'm sure I'll like this story more just because he's reading it.
  3. The Book Thief: This is a book I've reread at least 6 times, and I think it's about time I listened to it. I cry every time I get to the end of this book; imagine the emotions with the audio! *stocks up on tissue boxes*
  4. Neverwhere: This is my favorite Neil Gaiman book, and I either want to listen to the audiobook or the BBC radio drama because both sound fantastic and I would love to hear these colorful characters come to life.
  5. Vicious: I just have a feeling that my "really like" will turn into "LOVE LOVE LOVE" if I listen to this one :)
  6. The Stormlight Archive: I'm a little hesitant to put this on here because these audiobooks are freaking huge (50+ hours, I believe), but just imagine how epic this would be!
  7. The Gentleman Bastards series: I love this series to death (LOCKE AND JEAN FOREVER), and I have no doubt that the audio will make me love it even more.
  8. The Bartimaeus Trilogy: This is a childhood favorite of mine, and of course Bartimaeus' snark and wit can only be more enjoyable when you're hearing his wisecracks instead of just reading them :)
  9. The Martian: Another snarky book that made me laugh like crazy when I read it. I'd love to laugh and listen as well!

  10. Monsters of Men (Chaos Walking #3): This is one of my favorite books, and I've reread the first two books on audio already, but I keep putting this one off because I know how emotional I'm going to get. Again, you can't go wrong with Nick Podehl!

  1. Aah, so many great picks!

I started the Mistborn trilogy this year, but even though I have only read the first one, I can tell it's a brilliant series. Same goes for The Gentleman Bastards! And The Book Thief, there are just no words to describe that one...

The Name of the Wind, the Stormlight Archive and Vicious are all on my TBR, I haven't gotten around to reading them!

Do you listen to all of your re-reads on audiobook? I've never really listened to one, I feel as if it is such a huge commitment and I am afraid I won't absorb the story as well...

  4. I seldom re-read just
because there are so many new and different books waiting to be read. But I can read and re-read and re-read The Book Thief. I just read Neverwhere for the first time. Fun list today. Have a nice week. kelley—the road goes ever ever on

  5. I absolutely love re-reading books. It always amazes me how much can be gained from going back and reading books a second time :) I haven't had as much time to do so since starting blogging but still...
Naturally, I 10000% agree with rereading The Stormlight Archive and Mistborn. Those books are ones to be enjoyed over and over again to be sure ♥ I'd love to reread Vicious too, it was just such an addictive read!! I still need to start the Gentleman Bastards series (but I do own the first book) and the Batimaeus Trilogy though. Awesome picks here ^^ happy reading! x

  6. I'm personally really bad at following along on audiobooks but I'd be interested in hearing how well the POVs are portrayed. Ahhhh, this just reminds me that I should finish reading Monsters of Men faster so I can finally see the end (except I don't want it to end--what a dilemma).

    Cheers,

  7. Michelle {Book Hangovers}November 4, 2014 at 6:59 PM

I love reading books and then listening to the audios. I've listened to book one of The Bartimaeus trilogy and absolutely FREAKIN loved the narrator. I also have the Chaos Walking trilogy on audio that I've been dying to get to. I also bought The Book Thief this past weekend but held off because I'd rather get the audio. I heard there's a lot of feels reading it but I want to listen to it. I've tried to listen to Mistborn but found the narration to be a bit slow, maybe if I sped it up a notch I'd like it better. And of course, I absolutely LOVE listening to Brandon Sanderson's StormLight Archives. Already listened to book 1 twice but I'm waiting to read/listen to Words of Radiance closer to book 3's release.
Damn and Neverwhere is one of my all time favorite books by one of my all time favorite authors. I've listened to the BBC version and adored it. Just like watching the movie but with the screen blank.Next on my audio list is to finish Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard series. I was half way through book one but our group started reading Way of Kings ;)
And now that you have mentioned The Martian, I'm gonna listen to that too. (And Vicious...hopefully it's better than The Archived)
Wooooo...... that was a long comment. I just love everything you read/listen too. Such amazing taste :) Glad I stopped by. It's been awhile.
    Miss you much!

  8. I'm so excited for you to finish the Mistborn series! Book 1 was great, book 2 dragged a little but it recovered at the end, and book 3 was FANTASTIC. And Gentleman Bastards is just so much fun! Actually everything on your TBR is amazing and I'm excited for what you have in store :)

I don't do all my rereads on audio, but I feel like I get more emotionally invested in audio and it's nice to re-experience a story in a different way. More on audio rereads here :)

  9. I'd recommend all of them hahaha

  10. I didn't used to reread, but I've discovered that when I reread books I love, it's so comforting because you're already emotionally invested and you kind of relive your experience reading the first time. YES The Book Thief is the book I've reread the most!

  11. YES. When I reread The Final Empire, I was like Sanderson you sneaky genius, you stuck all the clues in plain sight and I didn't even know they were there the first time around! I also loved listening to Code Name Verity because again I caught way more foreshadowing and just more emotion the second time around.
Let me know when you start Gentleman Bastards! It's so addictive! Bartimaeus has a good first book, but the second one is rough, and the third more than makes up for it (it's one of my childhood favorites!).

  12. I have to be doing something else, like a problem set or laundry, so then I just listen while I work. Monsters of Men is BRILLIANT. It's one of the strongest endings to a series that I've ever read. Don't worry, you can still read the novellas when you're done ;)

  13. Your TBR makes me so happy hahaha
I hope you enjoy all of those books! I love them all!
I did like Vicious a lot better than The Archived. My review is posted on here somewhere...lol
It has been a while! I've missed you too!

  14. ZOMG! YES TO ALL OF THESE! Well except the Patrick Ness books. I haven't read them yet. BUT I AGREE WITH ALL THE OTHERS! ESPECIALLY the Gentleman Bastard books! I love the audio!

  15. now I'm super excited for the audio of Gentleman Bastards! I'll probably power through the audio before book 4 comes out :)

  16. I'm really excited too! I will definitely check out your post about audiobooks, I want to try it. Who knows? Maybe I will love it.
