Top Ten Tuesday 53 - Authors I want to meet

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week's theme: Authors I'm dying to meet

Well, this kind of goes hand-in-hand with my favorite authors list, but there are a few authors that I wouldn't say are my favorites but I really want to meet :)

  1. Is there any question that number one is Brandon Sanderson?
I live in California, and somehow managed to be a hours away from both of his California signings. If it had been a weekend, I would have made my roommate drive me, but the whole full time student thing made getting to his signings near impossible during the week :(
  2. Neal Shusterman is another author I'm dying to meet, because his books have left such a big impact on me from my childhood all the way to this year. I don't know how or why, but I always manage to read his books at exactly the right time in my life and they all just become extra special. I would love to meet the mind (and the man) behind the books that have a special place in my heart.
  3. I would love to meet the creator of my favorite fictional duo, Locke and Jean. Scott Lynch seems really sarcastic and funny judging from his blog posts, and I feel like it would be fun to meet up with the brains behind Locke's clever schemes.
  4. Patrick Rothfuss is an author that I wouldn't call a favorite but I still really want to meet. Judging from his blog and tweets, he seems like a really cool guy!
  5. Markus Zusak is another favorite author of mine, and I want to meet the creator of The Book Thief and I Am the Messenger, two books that have made me cry and inspired me in so many ways.
  6. Patrick Ness is such an amazing author, but he's also inspiring outside of his books! I've read transcripts of some of his speeches at universities and events and such, and they've always made me smile but also think about the world in a different way. I feel like Patrick Ness would be an awesome person to chat with.
  7. Sarah J Maas is an author I want to meet because I want to pick her brains and see how she managed to brainwash me into loving Celaena even though I wasn't a fan of the first book. I went from annoyance and skepticism to complete awe and love in the span of a few hundred pages. That's magic right there!
  8.  I think it would be super fun to meet John Scalzi. I imagine that someone who can write such hilarious books must also be funny in real life.
  9. If time travel were possible, I'd love to meet Madeleine L'Engle. I read my first science fiction book, A Wrinkle in Time, at the age of 10. I was mind-boggled but I fell in love with tesseracts and worlds on stars I could not see. I think I owe my love of science fiction to this brilliant author, and I'm sad that she's no longer with us.
  10. Tana French is another author I'd like to meet. Her Dublin Murder Squad mystery series is one of my favorite set of mysteries, and I love how she always makes her settings into characters as well. I feel like it would be really cool to talk to her about people and psychology and what pushes people over the edge, since a lot of her books deal with that sort of thing.

Hope you can meet these authors sometime in the future!
